Start with the problem,
then choose the approach.
A leak may come from the pipe itself, a joint, or a connection to a valve or fixture. The pipe material and condition help determine whether a single section, a fitting, or a larger run needs attention. If you do not know the material, describe what you can safely see rather than opening walls or handling a live leak.
When to ask about this service
- Water escaping from a visible pipe or fitting
- A damaged copper section or recurring joint leak
- A leaking PEX connection or visibly damaged tubing
- A previously repaired section that is leaking again
Copper pipe: inspect the surrounding run
A repair should consider more than the visible hole. Ask the provider to assess the nearby pipe and explain whether a local section replacement addresses the fault. The method depends on access, system conditions, and suitable materials. Do not attempt to solder a live or unassessed supply line.
PEX pipe: system compatibility matters
PEX connections are not interchangeable simply because their sizes look similar. The provider should identify the tubing and fitting system, use compatible components and tools, and check the finished connection. Avoid makeshift joins or household adhesives as a permanent repair.
From temporary control to permanent repair
A temporary leak-control measure may buy time but is not automatically a completed repair. Ask what is being replaced, how the line will be checked, and whether walls or cabinets will need separate restoration. Any warranty should be described by the provider in writing.
What affects the cost?
Material, pipe diameter, location, access, number of failed connections, and the condition of the surrounding run affect cost. Opening a wall and repairing its finish can be separate from replacing the plumbing.
Confirm the independent provider’s identity, qualifications, and written terms. Aiven Plumb techno connects service enquiries; it does not set a provider’s repair price.
What to have ready when you call
- The location and appearance of the affected pipe
- Whether water is still flowing
- Photos or prior plumbing records, if already available
- Any history of repeated leaks in the same area
